Courtney Brooks works at Athletic Republic in Humble, Texas as a personal trainer and a sports performance coach. He also plays arena football as a defensive linebacker for the Houston Stallions of the Lone Star Football League. Courtney grew up in the Houston area and played college football at Blinn College and the University of Houston where he also studied Business Management. Courtney does not have Sickle Cell Anemia, but has lost a close friend that had it. He went to Jr. High and High School with his friend who had Sickle Cell Anemia. Even though him and his classmates knew their friend had the disease, they never treated him any different because of it, which was what he wanted. He died approximately four years ago from complications related to the disease.
